About

Patricia Adelsberger became interested in Chinese medicine while living in Eugene, Oregon. As a student at the University of Oregon she volunteered at a human service agency called White Bird Clinic. One of the services that White Bird offered was a drug-free detoxification program for and substance abuse patients. It was through White Bird’s Chrysalis program that Patricia learned about the gentle yet profound nature of the traditional Chinese medical system. She was amazed that acupuncture needles administered to a patient’s ear could aid in the recovery from addiction to heroin, nicotine, and other substances. From this discovery she explored further, learning more about the impact acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine could have on transforming people’s lives. She decided to return to her home state of Massachusetts and pursue her education as an acupuncturist at the New England School of Acupuncture.
Upon completion of her Master’s Degree program at NESA, Patricia came full cirlce in her journey to become a practitioner of Traditional Chinese medicine by landing one of her first positions as a licensed acupuncturist at Dimock Community Health in Roxbury, MA, where she worked in the acupuncture detoxification clinic. She now has a private practice, Acupuncture Healing Arts, in Davis Square, Somerville, where she is part of a holistic practice called Amethyst Center.
Patricia earned her Masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from NESA in 2002 and was awarded national certification and Diplomate status in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology from NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). She is licensed to practice by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine. She received a BA in English and Women’s Studies from the University of Oregon.
Patricia completed additional training in Master Tung style acupuncture with Susan Johnson from Santa Cruz, CA, and in herbal medicine with Dr. Tao Xie of Quincy, MA.
